At each of the Tiptree Tea Rooms in Essex, you can indulge in a beautifully presented afternoon tea served on a china cake stand with freshly made sandwiches, freshly baked sultana scones, clotted cream and Tiptree preserves with a selection of individual fresh patisserie. Included is a choice of unlimited tea or filter coffee and a soft drink. You are able to purchase an afternoon tea voucher which is redeemable at any of the Tiptree tea rooms. Which could make a lovely gift.

The Afternoon Tea at Essex Rose in Dedham

Dedham Village has a picturesque High Street with quaint period properties, a Church, park, boutique shops, country pubs, an Art and Craft Centre, Boat Hire at the Dedham Boathouse and not forgetting of course Tea Rooms. The perfect spot for afternoon tea is The Tiptree Tea Room, The Essex Rose. It is a 16th century quaint and traditional tea room full of character. I have visited many times over the years and have been lucky enough to enjoy an afternoon tea there several times, including their festive afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea was served on a traditional cake stand. I like the fact that we were able to choose our own sandwich choices. We normally choose two of our favourites and share them between us. That way, we both like all the sandwiches and none go to waste. They came with a mini jar of Tiptree wholegrain mustard and side salad. The sandwiches were deeply filled and very fresh. We opted for prawn in seafood sauce and ham. The ham is chunky cut and is always delicious.

The sweet stuff

We received two warmed freshly baked fruit scones with Tiptree jam of course! My favourite, Little Scarlet Strawberry jam and individual pots of Rodda’s clotted cream. The scones at Tiptree never disappoint, soft inside with a light crust on top and a sprinkling of icing sugar… perfection.

Alongside the scones we received mini patisserie cakes to share. We had two soft sponge cakes, a lemon tart and a cheesecake. The perfect amount to not over indulge. The lemon tart was fresh and zingy. The cake selection changes frequently.

The Festive afternoon tea at The Essex Rose

The Festive Afternoon Tea at Tiptree Tea Rooms is similar to their regular afternoon but with a little twist. We could choose from their selection of sandwiches with the addition of some festive favourites. We had to of course opt for turkey & stuffing and then brie & cranberry. The scones were incredible, they were lightly spiced and served warm. The selection of mini patisserie cakes were all festive themed. They included mince pies, christmas cake, chocolate yule log and christmas themed cheesecake. We really enjoyed our festive afternoon tea at The Essex Rose in Dedham. It definitely got us in the christmas spirit, I can’t wait to visit next year!

The Afternoon Tea at The River Cafe, Osea

On this occasion we visited The River Cafe at Osea to sample one of their wonderful Afternoon Teas for two. This was a particularly lovely spot to admire the views spanning the Osea coast. The afternoon tea was served on a traditional cake stand. Quite a nice addition was the fact that we were able to choose our own sandwich choices. This is perfect for those fussier eaters. We chose our two favourite sandwich fillings and shared them between us. They came with mini jars of Tiptree whole grain mustard and mayonnaise. The sandwiches were deeply filled and extremely fresh. We opted for ham and egg mayonnaise, they were delicious.

The sweet stuff

Along with our sandwiches we received gorgeous freshly home-baked fruit scones. These were baked to perfection, served warm and lightly dusted with icing sugar. The scones came with their famous Little Scarlet Strawberry jam and clotted cream. This was my favourite course, especially when served with my favourite jam of all time!

We received miniature individual patisserie items to finish. We had two different flavoured sponge cakes and then a lemon meringue tart and a cheesecake. Just the perfect size to share without feeing too full afterwards! Included in your afternoon tea are unlimited hot drinks plus a soft drink.
