The Stoke by Nayland Resort
Stoke by Nayland Golf, Spa & Lodges Resort is an award winning, environmentally friendly & family run hotel situated in the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Colchester. SBN Resort offers not one, but two championship golf courses, a wonderful spa with fitness facilities, along with the hotel and luxury lodges available for overnight stays.
They also offer wonderful afternoon teas and feature on my list of The Best Afternoon Teas in Essex. Having been a regular spa goer at Stoke by Nayland for several years. I had the opportunity to sample one of their afternoon teas. I was so impressed by the Stoke by Nayland Afternoon Tea. It consisted of the most amazing freshly baked scones and combined with the gorgeous scenery, it absolutely deserves their spot on this list.
You can enjoy their renowned Afternoon Tea either al fresco on the terraces overlooking the lake and stunning Constable Country or alternatively inside the newly refurbished Lakes Restaurant still enjoying the panoramic views of the gorgeous countryside.
The Savouries
The savouries are often my favourite part of an afternoon tea and the sandwiches at Stoke by Nayland are no exception. Filled with Coronation chicken, ham, egg mayo and salmon, these are a great selection of fillings. The sandwiches were freshly made and generously filled.
The Sweet Stuff
Starting with the main event, the scones at Stoke by Nayland Afternoon Tea are consistently good. They are the perfect combination of crisp outer shell, dusted in icing sugar with a soft and moist inside. The scones are served with Tiptree Jam, a pot of clotted cream per person, topped with a strawberry (grown at the resort). I often find myself asking for extra clotted cream but this is not needed at Stoke by Nayland Resort. The scones are simply delicious and some of the very best I have tried.
Scones are followed by a brilliant selection of cakes. We enjoyed super moist carrot cake, a light victoria sponge generously filled with cream and jam, soft and gooey chocolate brownie and a delightful mini cheesecake.
Drinks
Afternoon tea is served with bottomless freshly brewed artisan tea or coffee. You also have the option of adding a glass of champagne to really make it a special occasion.
Book a Stoke by Nayland Afternoon Tea
The afternoon tea at Stoke by Nayland is a wonderful affair with simply amazing views that are hard to beat. Afternoon tea is £19.95 per person and is served 7 days a week from 12 noon until 5pm.
They are also introducing a range of exciting new themed afternoon teas. Starting with their Wimbledon themed afternoon tea featuring their home grown strawberries and of course a glass of Pimms!
