AFTERNOON TEA AT BONNIE’S CAFE IN HUTTON, ESSEX

THE VENUE

Bonnie’s Cafe is a charming tearoom with seating available both indoors and outdoors. Based at Hunter’s Chase Garden Centre in Hutton, Bonnie’s is renowned by locals for their truly amazing cakes! There is always a vast selection to choose from, whether its a classic Victoria sponge or a rich Chocolate number, they have a flavour to tempt you. Alongside their famous cakes, they serve both hot and cold breakfast and lunches. I am regular at Bonnie’s Cafe and am always impressed by the quality of their food and drinks. Their flavoured hot chocolates are like nothing I’ve ever tried, simply heaven in a cup.

I like that you always get a warm welcome at Bonnie’s Cafe and one of my favourite things is the amount of staff available to attend to you. They are super helpful and always ready to assist. So with all those reasons in mind, this is why the ‘Afternoon Tea at Bonnie’s Cafe‘ features on my list of The Best Afternoon Teas in Essex.

THE SAVOURIES

Afternoon Tea at Bonne’s Cafe is a real treat. If you have a big appetite then this is the afternoon tea for you. Receiving an impressive afternoon tea stand per person, you could never be disappointed. As sandwiches are often my favourite part of an afternoon tea, this afternoon tea defeated me and I couldn’t quite finish them all! We received 9 sandwich fingers as well as a mini quiche. I was blown away by the sheer amount of sandwiches, they were generously filled and were a mix of super fresh white and wholemeal bread. The fillings consisted of Salmon & Cream Cheese, Ham & Mustard and Cheese & Cucumber. If you needed to swap one out for another filling, then I am confident that Bonnie’s Cafe will be able to accommodate you. If you love the savoury course, then you would not be disappointed.

THE SWEET STUFF

The Afternoon Tea at Bonnie’s Cafe comes with a freshly home-baked scone, tiptree jam and Roddas clotted cream. Along side your scone you receive a huge slab of Victoria Sponge cake and you get to choose your second slice of cake. With several flavours to choose from, I’m sure you’ll find it difficult to choose. I opted for the deliciously moist carrot cake, a personal favourite of mine. Served with the sweet stuff was the creamiest and yet zingy lemon posset. So much flavour packed into that little lemon dessert. Everything at Bonnie’s Cafe is home made and those scones were nothing less than absolute perfection! You need to try them for yourself, I cannot recommend them enough.
