The Afternoon Tea
I visited Manor of Groves Hotel and Golf Club in Sawbridgeworth, just outside of Essex. A beautifully restored Georgian Mansion set in 150 acres of idyllic Hertfordshire countryside. This is a gorgeous venue to enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea.
The afternoon tea at Manor Groves Hotel was served in the Loggia Lounge with pretty views across the gardens through the huge floor to ceiling windows. This was a gorgeous light and airy space, perfect to relax and enjoy an afternoon tea.
The Savouries
Our afternoon tea was presented on a traditional three tier cake stand, the sandwiches were incredibly fresh, prepared with a selection of breads and traditional fillings, that included:
- Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese and Chive
- Egg Mayonnaise & Rocket
- Cream Cheese & Cucumber
- Ham & Grain Mustard
- Hummus, Tomato & Cucumber
These sandwiches were absolutely delicious. There were all well filled and very nice and fresh. This was a very nice savoury course.
The Sweet Stuff
The sweet course at Manor of Groves Afternoon Tea included;
One fruit and one plain scone each, accompanied with clotted cream and jam. The scones were fantastic, they smelt amazing and tasted even better. Some of the best I have had! They had such a delicious crunch but were so soft inside.
The selection of cakes were perfect. I enjoyed a moist carrot cake, a refreshing raspberry cake, a rich chocolate & coffee cake, along with a cherry bakewell and macaron.
The sweet course selection was really good, I really enjoyed every element! They all complemented one another and were very fresh and moist. They were extremely enjoyable.
Alongside your afternoon tea, you can choose from a selection of teas and coffee, including: Traditional English, Decaf English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Assam, Cranberry & Raspberry, Lemon & Ginger, Green Tea and Camomile.
My thoughts
The venue was very pretty, the light and airy loggia lounge was the perfect backdrop to enjoy your afternoon tea. I enjoyed every element of this afternoon tea, it was very high quality, fresh and simply delicious! What’s not to love?
