The Afternoon Tea
The afternoon tea at Scott’s at Southend changes seasonally, I recently visited to try out their Summer Afternoon Tea. Their Afternoon Tea is £26 you can also upgrade to include a glass of fizz. Scott’s of Southend can adapt their afternoon tea for most dietary requirements including, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, etc. They also offer a Children’s Afternoon Tea.
The Savouries
Our afternoon tea was presented on a traditional three tier cake stand, alongside a plate of savouries, they included:
- Cucumber & Cream Cheese Sandwich
- Chicken Caesar On A Brioche Bun
- Egg Mayonnaise Sandwhich
- Pork And Apple Sausage Roll
- Smoked Salmon Croissant
I do love the variety offered on their Savoury course at Scott’s. The Pork And Apple Sausage Roll‘s were simply delicious and I really enjoyed the mini croissant and brioche bun, makes a nice change from only finger sandwiches. There were all well filled and nice and fresh.
The Sweet Stuff
The sweet course at Scott’s of Southend Afternoon Tea includes:
- Strawberry Shortbread Cheesecake
- Passionfruit And Mango Meringue
- Lemon And Elderflower Cake
- Chocolate Raspberry Brownie
- Fruit Scone & Plain Scone with Tiptree Jam and Clotted Cream
Firstly the scones at Scott’s of Southend are always fabulous. Soft inside with a lovely flavour, perfectly compliments the clotted cream and jam. We received two home baked scones, one plain and one fruit. They came with lashings of clotted cream and jam and were absolute perfection!
The sweet course selection is really good, the rich and chocolatey brownie with the perfect brownie consistency! The lemon and elderflower cakes very really moist with a lovely refreshing flavour and the mini meringue was a delight, with a real zing of passionfruit and Mango!! I really enjoyed every element!
Alongside your afternoon tea, you can choose from a selection of 12 different teas, with some interesting flavoured teas including Rhubarb & custard, Cream Tea, Lemon Drizzle and Mint Humbug. You can also upgrade to a sparkling afternoon tea with a glass of fizz for an extra charge.
