Bowling at Rollerbowl
We were recently invited along to Rollerbowl at The City Pavilion in Romford. I used to go Bowling at Rollerbowl as a child. I was thrilled to go back as an adult and take along my daughter to try it out for herself.
On arrival at The City Pavilion, the building itself remained unchanged, a large grand beautiful white building. There is plenty of free parking on site. The City Pavilion also houses a laser quest arena, an American diner, arcade area, a bar and large function and conference suite.
As we descended the steps into Rollerbowl I saw how it had completely changed. Gone are the dull and boring regular lit lanes I remember from years ago! Hello to the newly refurbished and improved rainbow lit lanes. Like Bowling in the dark with brightly lit colour changing lanes, it was really quite the spectacle and looked super modern and funky. The kids were really impressed, as was I!
The Bowling Alley
Rollerbowl bowling alley is home to 34 bowling lanes, a large arcade stocked with new and exciting arcade games, several pool tables, an American Diner and a bar housing 12 of the newly refurbished bowling lanes.
We booked in advance and checked in at the desk and swapped our regular shoes for our bowling ones. The staff were very helpful, even when my fussy daughter had to try on 3 different pairs before she was happy with hers!
We were given our bowling lane number and off we went to have some fun. The computer to add bowler names was really ease to use, a large touch screen which even allowed you to take bowler profile photos. You were able to choose for each person whether you needed the bumpers to be up or down. We opted for the bumpers up for the children. I thought that would be the easier option over tears over gutter balls! There were a large selection of ball weights and finger sizes available. There were also ramps to help with bowling. Perfect for the kids. We were also able to order drinks and food to our lane whilst we played which meant we could relax and enjoy the game instead of waiting for a player to go to the bar.
We really enjoyed our game of bowling, it took around an hour for 4 of us. I was so happy that I managed to get a strike on my last go and it just pushed me into first place! We all had such a great time!
East Coast Diner
After hitting the bowling lanes at Rollerbowl where we had an absolute blast we headed to the arcades. They had a great selection of brand new arcade games. The kids favourite were definite the water shooters! Each game awarded you with tickets, so we were so happy to collect them up and exchange them for some sweets.
There is an American diner on site with a great selection of American classics, we ordered hot dogs, burgers and milkshakes and could not be happier. The food was really good, large portion sizes and was served very quickly!
We had such an amazing time at Rollerbowl and would absolutely recommend a visit, the perfect place to chill out and unwind whether it’s to escape the hot sunshine outside or the rain. Lots of fun all under one roof!
I would recommend booking online in advance during busier times for bowling at Rollerbowl. They offer lots of various bowling offers, some include packages with food and a drink, check them out online.
