Afternoon Tea at Wivenhoe House Hotel
The afternoon tea at Wivenhoe House Hotel was very impressive. Each element baked and prepared onsite by their expert kitchen team. They boast using the freshest and finest local produce and this was reflected in the quality of their afternoon tea. We had a wonderful experience at Wivenhoe House and it rightfully deserves it’s spot on the list of The Best Afternoon Teas in Essex.

This place blew me away, a gorgeous venue with grand rooms and an afternoon tea to suit!
Our afternoon tea arrived on a three tier cake stand. On the bottom tier were a lovely selection of sandwiches which were very fresh and well filled. We received smoked ham, grain mustard mayonnaise, smoked salmon, lemon and dill butter, peppered cucumber and soft cheese, creamy egg, spring onion and cress and a lovely seeded pork sausage roll.
The Sweet Stuff
For the middle tier we each received two warm home baked scones, one plain and one fruit. They came with lashings of Cornish clotted cream and Tiptree jam. The scones were delicious, dusted in icing sugar with a nice crusty topping and soft inside.
On the top tier we received a huge array of delicious cakes and pastries. We each received a lemon curd macaron, a strawberry cupcake, a chocolate cheesecake tartlet, a frosted carrot cake and a coffee and salted caramel eclair. These again were all baked in house and were absolutely gorgeous. There were so many lovely treats we got to take some home for later!
