Kittea Cakes in Southend Essex, are an Afternoon Tea Venue with a difference! They are a cat cafe! An adorable pink and turquoise cafe with lots of friendly cats to chill with, play with and just enjoy being around. Research has shown that hearing a cat purr can lower your blood pressure and stroking a cat can slow your heart rate!
At Kittea Cakes, Essex’s first and only cat café, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, a slice of cake or a full afternoon tea whilst relaxing among your new feline friends. This place is the perfect hang out for cat lovers. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the cats and happy to tell you all about them. It is a great social space. Whilst enjoying our afternoon tea at Kittea Cakes cat cafe, we chatted to several other customers, all enjoying this very unique and special experience! That is why, they are included on our list of ‘The Best Afternoon Teas in Essex‘.
The cat cafe was very clean and you are encouraged to sanitize your hands on entering and after petting the cats, with sanitiser supplied on every table. There are plenty of cat toys around to play and have fun with the cats and staff may give you treats to feed the cats too.
Here is everything you need to know about the Afternoon Tea at Kittea Cakes Cat Cafe in Southend Essex.
We visited Kittea Cakes to try out their delicious afternoon tea and was really impressed. Their talented resident cake master Jas, bakes everything in house daily. The afternoon tea was amazing!
We received 6 freshly made finger sandwiches per person and a sausage roll. We enjoyed chicken & pesto, ham & mild mustard and cheese & pickle sandwiches.
These were followed by a super cute selection of cat themed cakes and treats and delicious home made scones served with Roddas clotted cream and jam. They were very nice scones, they were lovely and soft inside and dusted with icing sugar!
The cakes included:
- cat shaped shortbread biscuits
- coconut mice
- mini cupcake
- lemon drizzle square
- chocolate cat truffle
- and strawberries
This was the perfect portion size, the cakes were bite size so not too much! The lemon drizzle cake was so moist and it was absolutely delicious!
This was an amazing experience, enjoying our afternoon tea whilst hanging out with the cats. They all had their own funny personalities, it was so interesting and fun getting to know them. Such an unusual afternoon tea in Essex, I’d thoroughly recommend and it would make an awesome gift idea for any cat lover!
