So I used to scrapbook many years ago and hadn’t done it for such a long time. Obviously having extra time on my hands due to lockdown means I have been able to reignite my love from scrapooking. Unfortunately like everything, many things had changed during that time, fashion, techniques and styles. I didn’t really have any scrapbooking supplies so had think on my feet and create my own scrapbook embellishments. Luckily I’m not too bad on the computer and managed to create my own cut files to use on my Amsterdam scrapbook pages.

Amsterdam Wording Cut File page

So to create my Amsterdam Word Cut File Page, I created the cut file and cut it out using my cricut. I filled the cut file with a mix of pattern paper and water colour pages I had painted myself. To create the interesting paint effect I used dabs of acetone onto wet watercolour paint and allowed it to dry. Once dry it made some really pretty and interesting patterns.

To decorate the page I doodled my own embellishments in a black fine liner and cut out. I also cut own the small houses from pattern paper I already owned, but found they matched perfectly.

If you would like to create your own page using this cut file, please Download the Amsterdam Cut File here. This is a png file with no background so can be loaded straight into cricut or other cutting machines.

Amsterdam Night Life Cut File Page

For the Amsterdam night life cut file page I painted the back group with brightly coloured water colour paints, sprayed, smooshed and flicked the colours of the rainbow.

I then selected photos that matched each colour, mounted in the corresponding colour and added some embellishments. I used coloured sequins, embellishments I cut out of pattern paper (Shimelle and Dear Lizzy) and some Shimelle ephemera.

I’m really happy with how they turned out. It just proves you can scrapbook on a budget and you don’t always have to spend a lot of money on embellishments. Cut files definitely add another dimension to your page.
