Genie’s Dream – Aladdin themed afternoon Tea

We were swept away on a magic carpet to The Cardamon Tea Lounge in Colchester, Essex for the Genie’s Dream Afternoon Tea. Running for the month of May, this Aladdin themed afternoon tea will sure delight you!

Savouries

The afternoon tea table was brilliantly themed like we had just stepped into Agrabah, complete with gold crockery, a magic carpet and shiny gold genie’s lamp.

The Genie’s Dream sandwiches were luxurious with a hint of the Middle East. We enjoyed mini Persian chicken and salad pitta breads, sandwiches filled with Serrano ham with fig and olive tapenade with rocket. We also had a beef and pomegranate lettuce cup. The flavours were really beautiful and so different from your average afternoon tea. The Aladdin themed afternoon tea savouries were fresh and delicious.

The Sweet Stuff

The Date, Cardamon & Orange scones were really very good. Freshly baked with a gentle hint of flavour, served with clotted cream and jam, they were one of my favourite parts of this themed afternoon tea.

Following the scones were so many exciting and tasty Middle East themed treats. We were treated to a vanilla and pistachio cake, magic carpet cookie, Genie’s Lamp macaroon, and a Persian candyfloss and meringue parfait. What a delight! Plus lots of other delicious sweet treats to enjoy!

Each afternoon tea is accompanied with a pot of tea, coffee or soft drink of your choice. The Cardamon Tea Lounge have over 50 varieties of tea on offer.

Children’s Genies Dream Brunch Platter

The Cardamon Tea Lounge actively welcome kids to their lovely tea room, they have a whole host of themed children’s afternoon tea platters. The Genie’s Dream did not disappoint! This Aladdin themed afternoon tea for kids was filled with shaped sandwiches, themed sweets, biscuits and fruit. It also came with a drink. Eden is always so excited to receive her themed platter and manages to finish it all off, enjoying each bite!
