Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Leeds Castle
Eden has been asking to go zip lining and do an activity day for a long time now! We were lucky enough to be invited along to try out the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Leeds Castle and what a truly awesome time we had!
On Arrival
Go Ape Leeds Castle is set within the grounds of the castle, with lots of free parking available. You do not have to pay entry into Leeds Castle itself as Go Ape is situated to the right hand side of Leeds Castle car park amongst the trees.
We booked our times slot in advance and presented ourselves at the Go Ape reception about 10-15 minutes before our allotted time. It’s really simple to prebook and pay in advance on Go Ape’s website. We booked the Tree Top Adventure course which is suitable for families with younger children. There is no minimum age just a minimum height restriction of 1 metre. Children under 6 years of age require an adult to go up with them. Children over 6 years of age can go up and around the activity alone and you can watch from below or join them, it’s up to you!
On arrival at reception I filled in a quick form and read a set of safety instructions to Eden, we were then ready to go and have some fun! It’s advisable to make sure everyone has been to the toilet before you start your time slot. Toilets are a short distance away at the main entrance of Leeds Castle.
Getting Started
We headed on down to the Tree Top Adventure course and got fitted with our harnesses, we were then attached onto the safety system and ready to start our adventure. You are always attached the whole way round so you don’t need to worry about you or your little one clipping and unclipping as you go round the course. It feels safe and the harness is not uncomfortable.
The Tree Top Adventure
On the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Leeds Castle there are two different rope courses to take, each with different wobbly bridges and crossings to test you. They both end back at the zip line finale and then you can go back round try the second course. You have an hour to go round as many times as you wish.
Eden charged ahead and handled each crossing brilliantly. I struggled to keep up with her. There are a real mix of crossings from rope bridges, swinging platforms, cargo net bridge and tight ropes that reach tree to tree. There is a platform on each tree so you can stop and ready yourself for the next crossing. Once you’ve made your way round the course you have the thrilling finale of the zip line! Obviously this was our most favourite part, it was so much fun whizzing through the air and landing on the soft wood chippings! I couldn’t quite get to grips with landing on my feet and ended up on my bottom!
I left Eden to try out the second part of the course on her own, she had plenty of time in the hour to go round both courses several times and end each one with the thrilling zip line! Eden was absolutely buzzing when she finished, she felt so proud of herself for working her way across the trickier, more wobbly crossings and really felt a sense of achievement by doing it on her own. It was fantastic to be able to go round the Tree Top Adventure together and then equally as much fun to sit back and watch Eden go round bravely all by herself. At the end of the hour, Eden was awarded a certificate of her achievement!
Finally…
I would really recommend the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Leeds Castle. Both myself and Eden came away feeling proud of our achievement, happy and exhilarated after a hour climbing and swinging amongst the trees. It had both challenging and simple crossings along with the thrill of the zip line which made the best finale. We enjoy being an active family and this was a great fun family activity that people with varying abilities can enjoy together. We had the best time and cannot wait to return very soon. Thanks Go Ape!
